 Inscribe Press is an independent hybrid publisher based in Hillsboro, Oregon.

We focus on publishing stories that reveal wonder and truth through the creativity and diversity of human expression.

We believe our stories are the primary means by which we understand who God is in our lives, and why we find ourselves on the earth at “such a time as this.” Our stories speak of the one who created us, and they glorify our creator when they are communicated with passion and beauty and clarity.

Everyone has a story to tell. Every person’s life is unique, and through our stories, we discover who we are and why we are here, and we give hope to others in search of beauty and truth. Inscribe Press exists because we firmly believe that everybody deserves the chance to tell their story with passion and creativity. Our expertise enables you to reach others in an engaging and professional manner, because we work with you to create a book that will “be all that it can be.”

We specialize in discovering skillful writers who might be overlooked by traditional publishers and helping them craft their story with excellence and integrity, into a compelling narrative that moves readers. While we appreciate and value effective reporting and informational non-fiction, we focus on a more literary, creative expression of truth and life through fiction and narrative-based non-fiction.

Inscribe Press does not publish whatever comes our way, regardless of quality. You do not have to be an experienced and highly proficient writer producing polished manuscripts, but we do look for work that we consider suitable for publication based on the merit of the writing.

If you are accepted, we promise to approach your work with a commitment to collaborative, professional editing so that your book will be the best it can be. We design your cover and book interior with creativity and attention to detail. Once it is ready, we offer your book for worldwide distribution, in print as well as e-book formats. What is a Hybrid Publisher?

Today’s author has many publishing options available.

Some wish to pursue the professionalism and large market reach of a traditional publisher. Others desire the flexibility and autonomy of self-publishing (not to mention the opportunity to keep all the royalties their book sales earn!)

Inscribe Press, as a hybrid publisher, occupies a space between these two options. We behave like traditional publishers in many respects with regard to professionalism and quality of books. We differ in that the author invests in the initial cost of editing, designing, and publishing his or her book, and then earns much higher royalty rates on book sales. Many traditional publishers offer 8-10 percent royalties, whereas Inscribe’s royalty rates are 85 percent on print and digital copies. 

If you submit your book to Inscribe Press and are accepted, you enter a partnership where we are both fully invested in making your book a success.

Because we are small, we have the flexibility to “greenlight” more projects. This means more authors and readers will have the chance to connect with each other. The revolution that has taken place in the publishing world the past decade has opened up opportunities for previously unknown voices to have a chance to be heard. 

An author who self-publishes has creative control of each book through all its stages of production: from editing, to interior and cover design, to titling and promotional campaigns. With Inscribe Press you maintain that same control over your project, with the addition of our tools and resources. 

We are a member of Independent Book Publishers Association (IBPA) and we adhere to its expectations and standards for all hybrid publishers:
